Constitución Política de la República Mexicana de 1857 constitución de ideología liberal redactada durante la presidencia de Ignacio Comonfort. Fue jurada el 5 de febrero de 1857. Observaba las garantías individuales a los ciudadanos mexicanos, la libertad de expresión, la libertad de asamblea, la libertad de portar armas. Reafirmó la abolición de la esclavitud, eliminó la prisión por deudas civiles, las formas de castigo por tormento incluyendo la pena de muerte.

DRED SCOTT, an Enslaved person, taken by his Master from a Slave State, into a "Free Territory", filed a suite claiming that because he had lived on 'free soil' he was entitled to his Freedom. Though the Supreme Court ruled against Scott citing that people of African descent and their descendants were not protected by the Constitution and could never be citizens and thus could not sue in federal court; the case inflamed the national debate over Slavery in the years leading up to the Civil…
