Great store for gifts and other nautical nonsense!   Amazing living seaport museum of America and the Sea.   A must-see if you are anywhere near New Haven!

In the summer before high school, I attended a week long sailing camp at Mystic. We slept aboard the Joseph Conrad, polished brass and scrubbed the decks on the Charles W. Morgan, and sailed all day!

In ancient times, figureheads frequently depicted supernatural beasts and deities adopted from popular mythology. This tradition persisted into the nineteenth century, when patriotic figures and national heroes were also introduced. Modern vessels, for the most part, carry little if any decorative carving, as hull design and traditions have changed.

Mother of three and longtime reading mentor at The Book Shop of Beverly Farms, MA.

Clayman, Lalande (Lalie) Keeshan 61 of Beverly Farms, MA, passed away on Friday June 2014 while awaiting a lung transplant after a tough battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
