Sound and image: VANISHING POINT, 1971, cinematography by John Alonzo. This scene from this highly influential car chase movie demonstrates a perfect meld of kinetic photography, staging, editing and matching score. This is my favorite scene in the film, and check out the pulled focus shot at 3:05, a technique that Scorsese and others would later use in their films. (KevinR@Ky)
Dusty Kid - America Recently done mashup followed by an emotional impulse while listening to the gorgeous hymn America; by Dusty Kid. This video is dedicated to cinematographer John A. Alonzo. His outstanding work for the movie Vanishing Point with its settled but compelling shots has lasting captured american landscape spirit.
The Italian Movie poster to one of my favorite films Vanishing Point. This is the film that inspired Tarantino's Death Proof. The headline reads, "First they destroyed the Indians, then the bad people. Now it's everyone else's turn." What this description has to do with the film is beyond me. Plus, the signature white Dodge Challenger is orange on this poster.
