stop and drop it.

Our morning arrival time is what I like to call "controlled chaos". Kids are coming in and out during a 15 minute "passing period", morning jobs are being completed, math journals are being opened, kids are turning in homework and making their choice for lunch, pencils are being sharpened, books are being checked out from the library...you get the idea. I like to be at my door greeting kids and parents during this time, meaning that once kids are inside the classroom, I need them to be…

"Shark Bites!" - Versatile Ocean Themed Bulletin Board Idea

This past week, I had the extreme privilege of visiting my childhood elementary school to check out the newest and best in classroom decorations! Despite their busy schedules - meetings and last minute preparations before school started the next day - the gracious teachers at Hartville Elementary welcomed me into their colorful and engaging world; a world in which they will spend countless hours the next 180 days, impacting the lives of the children in our community. I thank you all for…

Good idea to use for graphing! I prefer it turned the other way in order to fit more students in a straight line. I can use the big oil drip pan from Wal Mart. I have been busy this summer CrEaTiNg! Owl Clip Chart Last year I finally found a behavior management system that I liked and that worked! I decided to revamp it a little this summer. Why mess with a good thing? Because I wanted to make it snazzier! I was inspired by Thriving Third Graders's Box Office Clip Chart and fancy clips. I created a similar chart to fit my Owl theme. I plan to let each kid pick the color clip they want and I will put their number (not their name!) on their clip. I…

Lunch Choice Management Idea and a Partner Management Freebie - Young Teacher Love

I want to share a couple management ideas for those first weeks back. These ideas have been so helpful in my classroom, and they are also so much fun for my kids. The first idea I want to share is our lunch choice board. I have tried so many different ways to take lunch count in the past, […]

Back to School and a Classroom Tour

All the kids went Back to School this week, and I barely managed to pull my room together in time. Honestly, I don't know where the time goes. Pinterest is where I found the idea for the signs the girlies are holding. That ding dang website is giving me more ideas than I can ever hope to implement. It would be frustrating if it weren't so blinking inspiring. Now I have Inspiration Induced Frustration. Just what I needed. Another condition to suffer from. I found this idea on Pinterest too…
