Sardonyx cameo head of the Medusa facing front, eyes cast downwards, mouth pursed in a bitter expression, hair standing out stiffly parallel with the wings at the top of the head. The oval face is framed within five pairs of snakes coiled into spirals terminating in heads hissing outwards amidst the locks of heir: two tails are knotted beneath the chin. Signed PISTRUCCI, Benedetto Pistrucci in 1844. Formerly Esmerian Collection.

Javier Piñón's Collages

I absolutely love artists Javier Piñón collage series. Combining iconic imagery he creates outrageous settings for his characters. Piñón uses Medusa, Don Quixote and Cowboys as inspiration for his stories which are mashed up with other dynamic elements to create some very strong images.

Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer, peintre et céramiste symboliste

Lucien Lévy (plus tard Lévy-Dhurmer) est né à Alger en 1865. Il entre à l'école communale supérieure de dessin et de sculpture du 11ème arrondissement de Paris en 1879. Il participe à sa première exposition en 1882, à l'âge de 17 ans. Elève brillant mais pauvre, il travaille comme lithographe puis de 1887 à 1895 comme céramiste chez Clément Massier (1844-1917) à Golf-Juan.
