Movies to watch after seeing Saltburn
If you somehow thought Saltburn (2023) was the wildest movie you’ve ever seen, may I introduce you to my favorite unofficial genre of film: anxiety inducing cinema. Don’t get me wrong, Saltburn was a delight exploring obsession, desire, envy, and the absolute absurdism of the ultra wealthy. It’s a stunningly shot film that is one of my favorites of the year, but the overly dramatic reactions I’ve seen to the film on TikTok made me realize many people are not used to weird cinema meant to leave you unsettled. If you want to dip into the genre, avant garde cinema and international thrillers are equally fantastic, or you can dive into A24’s catalogue to see films that will truly leave an impression on you the way Saltburn did.
