Dante Alighieri was born in 1265 to a family who was involved in the complex Florentine political scene. He was an Italian poet and moral philosopher. He wrote the poem, "The Divine Comedy". Dante also wrote the poem, "Vita Nuova" (The New Life), which was for his love, Beatrice.
