I spend summer in California, so when one if these swam behind me it scared the heck out if me. This is from one of my all time favorite places in the world, Monterey, where we found perfect weather and rented sit-on-top kayaks to explore the waterfront kelp forest. Strangely enough, the harbor seals showed an interest in boarding our kayaks (I had to nervously and gently shoo one away when it tried to climb in my lap). When we got back to the rental place I asked the manager about it, and he explained that it was very common and showed us a picture of one going for a free ride. Harbor…

Fisherman's Wharf

A visit to the beautiful Monterey Peninsula just isn't complete without a rendezvous with Old Fisherman's Wharf. Fisherman's Wharf has continued to adjust to the ever-increasing visitor trade. Where once tons of sardines were shipped daily, now thousands of visitors enjoy the Wharf's many fine restaurants, gift shops, art galleries, tackle and bait shops, fishing, whale watching harbor cruise and party boat concessions. The Wharf Theater continues to present plays throughout the year.
