Henry VIII liked solitaire and was a big gambler. According to records, he lost £3,250 in two years on cards which by today's standards is an enormous amount! Above this the King was a big spender. His post-mortem inventory listed nearly 20,000 items, including the largest tapestry collection on record, 70 ships and 6,500 handguns. He died in massive debt.
