Black Hole of Mythology
You kill a god like you kill an idea. A god can't survive if nobody knows they're a god; if nobody offers tribute, or prays to, or believes in a god, they're not really a god, are they? They're just-potentially-immortal beings with some possible powers that everyone else has forgotten. Not very god-like then.
Dionysus [Διόνυσος] is the Greek god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness, fertility, theatre and religious ecstasy. Dionysus is the son of Zeus and the mortal Selene and was the last to be accepted into Mt. Olympus. He is the youngest and the only one with a mortal mother. He is depicted as a beardless, sensuous, naked or half-naked androgynous youth: the literature describes him as womanly or “man-womanish”.
