Ria - Cottage garden and flower growing on Instagram: "Here’s 5 pretty cottage garden perennials that I love to grow - which one is your favourite? 🌸☺️

I absolutely love annuals, but it’s the perennials that are the mainstay and add structure to the garden. But what is a perennial? Well its any plant that lives for more than two years - ie it comes back year after year.

You can also often take cuttings, or divide some varieties of perennials in the Autumn or Spring, to make free plants. So perennials offer really great value for money. And you don’t need to buy big pots, you can start small and let them establish.

I’ve chosen a mix of reliable and (usually!) hardy plants here that repeat bloom/flower over a long period. You can see that some of them don’t look much right now (ie they’

Galena Berkompas • Urban Flower Farm • Education on Instagram: "For those with garden spaces in the shade; this is a list of flowers that will do exceptionally well… provided they’re still getting 3-4 hours of sun per day. Another key for a shade garden is to make sure that massive trees aren’t stealing all the nutrients. If you want to plant flowers under those, consider ones that grow from bulbs or maybe put some raised beds under the trees. This whole list makes great cut flowers and are ones I use regularly for bouquets. Added perk? Most are perennials. My favorite roses that do well in part shade are Eustacia Vye and Claire Austin. I have both in places that only get around 5 hours of sun, and they’re prolific and gorgeous! Red Deer Flower Farmer | Taylor Corrigal on Instagram: "Yarrow is one of my very favourite perennial flowers. Pollinator friendly, drought resistant, and early to bloom, this easy to grow plant should be in everyone’s spring garden plan. Started very early, yarrow will bloom first year but plants really take off in year two. Truly a must grow for the perennial garden! Yarrow is a long bloomer that puts out stem after stem of the most adorable tiny floret clusters on strong stems. Just make sure you harvest before the heat of the day, only once florets are fully open. 🌸Variety Pictured: Summer Pastels🌸 This year I will be adding “Flowerburst Fruit Bowl” and “Cloth of Gold” to the mix, too! Save this reel so you remember to grow yarrow next year! ✨ Seed starting Flower gardening Fl Growing Plants, Flower Gardening, Perennial Garden, Drought Resistant

Red Deer Flower Farmer | Taylor Corrigal on Instagram: "One of the biggest mistakes I made when I started the flower farm was trying to grow too many things. I spent hundreds of dollars on seeds that I either still have or ended up giving away. Buying seeds is such fun, but it certainly isn’t best business practice when you’re trying to make money. If I were starting the flower farm tomorrow with the knowledge I have now, I would narrow down my grow list to these ten flowers. These are all are easy, safe bets for beginners who want to get into cut flower gardening/farming. I’ve included a few of my favourite varieties for you to check out! 🌸 Zinnias; Oklahoma Salmon, Benarys Giant Lilac, Queen Red Lime 🌸 Cosmos; Apricotta, Rosetta, Double Click Bicolour Rose 🌸Strawflower; Purple Red, S Flower Beds, Flower Farmer, Flower Farm
