ELA & Math Word Wall Cards
Free! Figurative language anchor word wall cards. Hyperbole, personification, alliteration, metaphor, simile, idioms, & more. For a quick, spontaneous ELA writing activity, I like to attach a few of these to the white board, give the students post-its, an instruct them to write an example of each and stick it on the board near the corresponding poster. If time permits, after every student has at least one on the board, they go get a random one and evaluate it.
How to Survive as an Introverted Teacher
How to Survive as an Introverted Teacher • What I Have Learned • Confession time. I’m exhausted. At the end of each and every day I’m exhausted. I’m not just tired. I’m exhausted, spent, done. I’m introverted. I always have been introverted and I always will be introverted. And, yet, I chose to become a teacher.
Short and Long Vowel Sort
FREEBIE--This packet is a hands-on FUN approach to learning and practicing short/long vowel sounds! Students will be engaged in a FUN way as they learn the sound differences between all five of the short/long vowel sounds. If the students wish, they can enjoy coloring their own animal mats to use for the games.
Reading on Strawberry Lane
This game gives student exposure to open syllable vowels. An open syllable only has one long vowel sound and it is spelled with one vowel letter. So many times in open syllable words the vowel itself is the only syllable. This vowel can be at the beginning, middle, or end of a word. The game is played just like UNO. So have fun!
