As this student reads a book to classmates, he develops academically and becomes comfortable in speaking in front of a group. Our Montessori curriculum prepares the whole child for school readiness: socially, emotionally, physically, spiritually and cognitively.

Activities in the Sensorial area of our classroom help a child train one of their five senses: touch, sight, smell, taste, or hearing. The Montessor Sound Cylinders hone your child’s auditory sense. Our student shakes one red cylinder and then finds the corresponding match among the blue cylinders. The distinction in sounds is small, and your child will delight in mastering this activity. You can do this at home using opaque canisters.

Our classroom is the “Children’s House”, a prepared environment designed to develop your child's independence and sense of personal empowerment. Even our very young students take care of their own child-sized environment. Students prepare a snack when hungry, pour their milk and wash their dishes. They care for plants. They sew and knit. When something spills, they carefully clean up. They do so with joyful purpose!

The Moveable Alphabet prepares your child for writing, reading and spelling. It allows the child to write before they are physically ready to hold a pencil and make letters. Once our student is comfortable putting sounds together to form phonetic words, we introduce spelling rules one phonogram at a time (“sh” below).
