Each piece of this unique collection is hand crafted by a member of the Embera Chamí indigenous tribe in Colombia. The Embera express their personal interpretations of the world using looms to weave colored beads (“okama”). Each shape and color has ancestral meaning: green represents the leaves, yellow- the sun, black- night, brown- the earth, and orange and red are used to signify flowers. Various shapes represent fishing hooks, flowers, rainbows and native birds of Colombia.
