We intended it mostly as a stop on our international road trip that would get us to the south island, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed the cable car up to the Botanic Gardens, the walk through the gardens back down to the city, the delightful Te Papa Museum, and more!
