in 1943, copper was so badly needed for world war II that pennies were made out of steel. this old steel penny has a lovely patina and has been drilled and attached to a mint green swirled czech glass roundel bead and hand-oxidized sterling silver. measures approx 17" (43.2 cm) in length. handmade by me in boston, ma or the sierra mountains.
